Description
Join
the Southland section's trip into the Eyre mountains! We will be
traversing the rolling tops East of the Oreti River before dropping down
into Upper Windley for the night. This is a classic grade 1 trip
featuring tops travel and basic off track nav.

Getting There
Members from Otago may wish to carpool directly to the carpark. The trip organiser will let you know if there are others coming from otago.What to Expect
We will stroll across the flats of the Oreti river before climing up onto the tops dividing the Oreti and Windley. We will drop down the spur north of the hut. Depending on peoples enthusiasm on Sunday we will either traverse back the same way or pick a different spur ascend out of the Windley.
Possible Hazards
Exposure - wind, possibly rain & cold temps.
Off track beech forrest travel: slips trips and falls.
Navigation & separation. Group will stick together, bring map (minimum digital copy/app)
Gear
Standard overnight tramping gear, warm non-cotton clothing etc.
Sturdy shoes for of track travel.
Good raincoat (even though we have ordered good weather, we haven't had much luck recently.
Bring own food.
