Description
This this is to climb Mt Liverpool via Cascade Saddle.We will drive to road end on Saturday morning and then walk into Cascade Saddle on the Saturday and camp by cascade stream where there is a toilet or possibly further on to lessen the kea issue. Climb Liverpool on Sunday or Monday if weather not so good and then walk out on Monday or Tuesday. Waitangi Day is Tuesday - could also do a a weekend trip for those that need to work on Monday - climbing on Sunday and walking out the same day. May need to rope up for crevasse travel.
You could go a far as Plunket Dome without roping up for crevasse travel.
As for all trips in the mountains we are at the mercy of the weather. This trip is weather dependent and a decision will be made on Thursday 1 February as to whether it is going ahead.
You will need to be competent travelling on snow using ice axe and crampons. Know how to rope up for crevasse travel unless you only go as far as Plunket Dome.
