Description

Mt Wakefield is a grade 1 climb in the Mt Cook range. A good level of fitness is required.

Plan A is to travel to Mt Cook on Saturday morning and walk into campsite in the afternoon at about 1650m. We will climb Wakefield on Sunday then drive home in the evening. Plan B is to stay in Mt Cook village (e.g. Unwin Lodge) and climb Wakefield in a single push if weather conditions are poor.

Experience with ice axe and crampons (snowcraft 1 or equivalent)  required.
