Description
This trip to celebrate the re-unification of the Otago Alpine Club Sections and the collapse of the Middlemarch wall. It is proposed people go climbing during the day and share a meal on Saturday night. Day trip climbing options are Mt Wakefield, Mt Edgar Thompson and Mt Kitchener. There is multi pitch rock climbing on the Sebastopol Bluffs, or you may just want to take a wander up the Tasman or Hooker Valley.
Keith will lead a trip up Mt Kitchener which is a grade 1 climb. We will go up from behind the Hermitage and descend via Mueller Hut.
Getting There
We will travel by private car with passengers expected to share the fuel cost. We expect to leave Friday evening. Exact timing will depend on what suits people.What to Expect
A chance to climb a mountain and have a hot shower and nice meal at end of the day and socialize with other OSONZAC members.Accommodation:
We have a group booking at Unwin Lodge You will need a sleeping bag but all cooking and
eating facilities are provided. Ther are hot showers and fridges. Lodge fees
are:

You are responsible for paying your fee to the hut
warden. It is best to bring cash for this.
Food: We plan to cook a
shared potluck meal on the Saturday night. Dinner on Friday night is up to you (either
eat before you come or grab something on the way as we will arrive late at
lodge). You are responsible for bring your own food for breakfasts, lunches and
snacks. Be aware that there are not many shops at the Mt. Cook village so bring
all the food you need for the weekend.
